Job Description: Culinary Arts Trainer 

Location: HTMi Saudi Arabia 

Position: Full-Time 

Reports To: Academic Director 

Job Summary: 

The Culinary Arts Trainer at HTMi Saudi Arabia is responsible for delivering high-quality, practical, and theoretical instruction in culinary arts to students in a vocational training environment. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of professional experience, strong culinary skills, and a passion for training the next generation of culinary professionals. 

Key Responsibilities: 

Instruction and Curriculum Delivery: 

  • Deliver hands-on and classroom-based instruction in culinary arts, ensuring lessons align with HTMi’s curriculum standards and industry expectations. 
  • Teach a range of culinary techniques, including foundational and advanced cooking methods, food safety and hygiene, menu planning, and culinary theory. 
  • Provide specialized training in international cuisines, focusing on Arabic, French, Italian, and Asian culinary practices. 
  • Assess student performance through practical and theoretical evaluations, ensuring constructive feedback and guidance for improvement. 

Program Development and Maintenance: 

  • Collaborate with the Academic Director to develop and update lesson plans, course materials, and assessment tools. 
  • Ensure teaching methodologies incorporate current culinary trends and industry standards. 
  • Maintain a well-equipped training kitchen, ensuring safety, cleanliness, and readiness for classes. 

Student Support and Mentorship: 

  • Act as a mentor and role model to students, promoting professional behavior and fostering a positive learning environment. 
  • Provide individualized coaching and support to help students achieve their career aspirations. 
  • Prepare students for assessments and final practical exams, including black box challenges and menu development. 

Professional Development and Collaboration: 

  • Stay current with industry trends, techniques, and certifications, attending professional development workshops as needed. 
  • Work closely with other faculty and staff to align training programs with HTMi Saudi Arabia’s academic goals. 
  • Paticipate in recruitment and orientation events to inspire prospective students and promote the culinary arts program.

Qualifications and Requirements: 

Education: 

  • Minimum of a Higher Diploma or bachelor’s degree in culinary arts, Hospitality Management, or a related field. 

Experience: 

  • 5 to 8 years of industry experience in a professional culinary setting, with roles starting from Sous Chef or higher. 
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a culinary team in high-pressure environments. 
  • Prior experience in teaching, training, or mentoring in a vocational or professional setting is a strong plus.

Skills and Competencies: 

  • Expertise in a wide range of culinary techniques, international cuisines, and modern kitchen operations. 
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking skills. 
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage and inspire students. Proficiency is English is a must. 
  • Proficiency in food safety and hygiene standards (e.g., HACCP certification preferred). 
  • Familiarity with instructional methods and educational technology tools. Additional Qualifications (Preferred): 
  • Certification in culinary arts from recognized accrediting bodies (e.g., City & Guilds, WACS certifications). 
  • Professional certifications in food safety or specialized cuisines (e.g., Arabic cuisine, pastry arts). 
  • Experience with curriculum development or accreditation processes in culinary training.
