Physical Education Teacher

Position Summary: 

MGIS is an International School with IB certification, where English is the language of instruction. The Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and assessing a comprehensive physical education program according to the IB philosophy. This position emphasizes first the development of each student’s physical health, while incorporating social skills and leadership organized and supervised activities and sports. The P.E. teacher implement the units of learning from the schemes of works with clear PE program objectives, in collaboration with the P.E. Head of Department. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Curriculum Development: Design and implement engaging physical education lessons that align with the IB framework, promoting inquiry-based learning and the development of motor skills.
  • Instruction: Teach physical education classes to students in the assigned grades using a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet diverse learning needs.
  • Assessment: Assess student progress and performance through various methods, including observations, skill assessments, and self-reflection, providing constructive feedback to support student growth.
  • Promote Physical Activity: Encourage lifelong fitness and healthy lifestyle choices through participation in a variety of sports, games, and physical activities. 
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other teachers and staff to integrate physical education with the overall IB curriculum, promoting interdisciplinary learning.
  • Student Development: Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the social and emotional development of all students, promoting teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship.
  • Professional Development: Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with best practices in physical education and IB teaching methodologies.
  • Related Responsibilities: Actively participates in staff meetings, contributes to school events, engages in after-school clubs and extracurricular activities, and takes on substitution and playground duties.
