Position Summary:
MGIS is an International School with IB certification, where English is the language of instruction. Parents in the MGIS community chose the school because of its excellent English language verbal models for their child in kindergarten. During educational activities and interventions, students are exposed to proper English pronunciation and sentence structure, both within and outside the classroom, from the teacher and the teaching assistant.
The Kindergarten Teacher is responsible for providing a nurturing, stimulating, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and physical development of young children. This role involves planning and delivering age-appropriate lessons, fostering creativity, and promoting foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and social interactions. The KG Teacher collaborates with colleagues, parents, and school leadership to ensure a safe, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere that inspires a love for learning.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Classroom Instruction and Curriculum Implementation
- Plan and deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and educational goals.
- Use a variety of teaching strategies to support children’s diverse learning needs, including play-based learning, hands-on activities, and group work.
- Foster foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and problem-solving, while encouraging curiosity and exploration.
- Integrate themes such as social skills, emotional awareness, and motor skill development into daily activities.
2. Child Development and Individualized Support
- Observe and assess each child’s progress, providing individualized support to meet developmental milestones.
- Identify and address the unique needs of students, including those with learning differences, and collaborate with specialists when necessary.
- Encourage positive social interactions and help children develop skills such as sharing, cooperation, and conflict resolution.
- Support children in developing independence, self-regulation, and a sense of responsibility.
3. Learning Environment and Classroom Management
- Create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming classroom environment that encourages active learning and exploration.
- Organize and maintain a well-equipped and tidy learning space with materials that support developmental activities.
- Establish clear expectations for behavior and manage the classroom effectively to ensure a positive and respectful atmosphere.
- Promote healthy routines, including hygiene, nutrition, and physical activity, as part of the daily schedule.
4. Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding their child’s progress, strengths, and areas for growth.
- Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to plan and improve the Kindergarten program.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences, school events, and professional development sessions.
- Build strong relationships with families, creating a partnership to support the child’s holistic development.
5. Assessment and Documentation
- Use formative and summative assessments to monitor and document children’s learning and development.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and any relevant observations or concerns.
- Prepare and share detailed progress reports with parents and school leadership.
6. Contribution to School Community
- Actively participate in school events, celebrations, and activities to build a sense of community among students and families.
- Encourage and organize creative and interactive events such as performances, storytelling sessions, and project showcases.
- Promote the school’s mission and values by fostering a love for learning and respect for others in all interactions.
