Location: Modern Global International School (Qortuba Branch), Riyadh, KSA Position 

Type: Full-Time From 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM

Summary: 

The Pastoral Care Principal is responsible for fostering a positive, inclusive, and supportive school environment by addressing the social, emotional, and well-being needs of students and staff. This role involves leading and implementing pastoral care programs, ensuring that every student feels valued and supported. The Pastoral Care Principal collaborates with staff, parents, and external agencies to promote the mental health and well-being of the school community while aligning with the school’s values and mission. 

Key Responsibilities: 

1. Leadership in Pastoral Care 

  • Develop and oversee the school’s pastoral care programs and policies, ensuring they meet students' social and emotional needs. 
  • Lead initiatives that promote inclusivity, respect, and a sense of belonging within the school community. 
  • Train and support staff in implementing effective pastoral care practices and creating a nurturing school culture. 
  • Serve as a role model by demonstrating empathy, integrity, and ethical leadership.

2. Student Support and Well-being 

  • Monitor and address the emotional, social, and behavioral needs of students, providing individualized support where necessary. 
  • Implement strategies to promote positive behavior, resilience, and mental health awareness. 
  • Facilitate interventions and support plans for students experiencing challenges, in collaboration with teachers, counselors, and parents. 
  • Act as a point of contact for students needing guidance, encouragement, or conflict resolution.

3. Staff Support and Development 

  • Promote staff well-being by creating an open and supportive work environment. 
  • Provide professional development opportunities to enhance staff skills in pastoral care and student management. 
  • Collaborate with staff to identify and address student-related challenges effectively and compassionately. 
  • Recognize and celebrate staff contributions to the school’s pastoral care initiatives.

4. Communication and Collaboration 

  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, providing updates on their child’s well-being and addressing concerns promptly. 
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and external agencies to support students’ needs comprehensively. 
  • Facilitate regular meetings and workshops to involve the school community in pastoral care initiatives. 
  • Build positive relationships with stakeholders to foster a strong school community.

5. Policy Development and Implementation 

  • Develop and enforce policies related to student behavior, attendance, and well-being in alignment with the school’s mission. 
  • Ensure the school’s pastoral care practices comply with relevant legal, ethical, and educational standards. 
  • Review and update policies periodically to reflect best practices and emerging needs.

6. Contribution to School Culture 

  • Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment where diversity is celebrated. 
  • Organize and lead events, programs, and activities that build school spirit and a sense of belonging. 
  • Address bullying, harassment, and other conflicts proactively, ensuring a culture of mutual respect. 
  • Foster a positive partnership between the school and the wider community to enhance student experiences.

7. Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or a related field; a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or Counseling is preferred. 
  • Experience: Extensive experience in a leadership or pastoral care role within an educational setting. 
  • Certifications: Relevant training in counseling, mental health, or behavior management is an advantage. 
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to inspire and lead others; empathy and emotional intelligence; effective conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities. Knowledge: Understanding of child and adolescent development, mental health issues, and effective pastoral care strategies.
