Job Title: IB-PYP Coordinator 

Grade Levels: Early Years 1 to Grade 6 

Salary: Will be decided upon qualifications & experience 

Location: Modern Global International School (Qortuba Branch), Riyadh, KSA Position 

Type: Full-Time From 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM 

Starting Date: 

End Date: End of Academic School Year 

1. Pedagogical Leadership: 

  • The IB PYP coordinator is part of the pedagogical leadership. 
  • Organize on-site professional development related to the PYP during the staff meetings and PD days. 
  • Identify PYP-related professional development opportunities for staff, including workshops and site visits. 
  • Lead weekly grade-level meetings to assist grade-level teachers in revising the POI and developing units of inquiry. 
  • Support specialist teachers in their unique roles as they deliver the PYP. 
  • Provide IB support for the newly hired teachers. 
  • Support implementation of PYP best practices in classrooms by modeling and co-planning lessons and units. 
  • Encourage an inquiry-based learning environment within the school community. 
  • Play an active role in planning and facilitating the PYP Student Exhibition. 

2. Documentation: 

  • Ensure that copies of IB publications about the PYP section of the school are available to all staff members. 
  • Be familiar with and promote understanding and use of all PYP documents. 
  • Establish and maintain a record of completed IB Primary Years Program planners. 
  • Publish the school’s program of inquiry. 
  • Lead the process of regularly developing or reviewing the school’s curriculum documents, including the program of inquiry and scope and sequence documents. 
  • Ensure that policies regarding assessment and language learning are formulated, published, and reviewed regularly, as per Program standards and practices. 
  • Encourage and promote the understanding and practice of academic honesty. Ensure the development of an action plan driven by the practices and program requirements included in the Program standards and practices and identify clear timelines, accountabilities, and outcomes regarding the ongoing development of the program, including demonstrating a commitment to professional development. 
  • Maintain the archive of PYP records from one year to the next, including the exhibition. 

3. Communication: 

  • Set up systems for communication and collaboration among all staff members involved in implementing the program. 
  • Conduct parent information sessions. 
  • Share information related to PYP. 
  • Circulate all relevant information received from IB and keep staff up to date with current developments in the program. 
  • Respond to requests for information (for example, questionnaires) from the IB. 
  • Create and maintain MYIB accounts for PYP staff, and use the MYIB groups. 
  • Provide outreach to the wider PYP community through email and visits from/to other schools. 
  • Communicate with parents regarding the implementation of the PYP at the school. 
  • Meet regularly with the school principal and contact the consultant/school manager. 

4. Resource Management: 

  • Make recommendations for the purchase of suitable resources to support the implementation of the programs. 
  • Be responsible for establishing an inventory of resources to facilitate efficient collaboration. 
  • Ensure that the school’s assessment document, language policy, essential agreements, and current planner binder are regularly reviewed and updated. 
  • Archive unit planners and maintain other curriculum materials (online/hard copy folders). 
  • Ensure that the school’s assessment, inclusion policies, staff essential agreements, Scope and Sequence documents, POI, and current planners are regularly reviewed. Archive these documents in a location accessible to the school community. 

5. Professional Development: 

  • Ensure that staff members are made aware of PD opportunities. 
  • Keep a record of workshop attendance and school visits to ensure equality of opportunity to identify ongoing needs, and to complete authorization and program evaluation forms. 
  • Support the teachers responsible for, and the students involved in, the PYP exhibition in the final year of the program. 

Other Responsibilities:

  • The coordinator’s job is a full-time job. 
  • The coordinator is part of the team responsible for interviewing and opting for PYP teachers. 
  • The coordinator is responsible for class observations and recommendations for best practices. 
  • The coordinator is also responsible for subject group leadership, ATL leadership, and leadership for service as action. 
  • The coordinator is also responsible for supporting students for differentiation. This may include in-class support and/or pull-out sessions.
