Position Summary:

MGIS is an International School with IB certification, where English is the language of instruction. As part of its IB profile and curriculum, MGIS has adopted French as its official third language for all students from KG1 to Grade 9. The French Teacher will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons that develop students' proficiency in French as a Second Language, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills according to the IB philosophy and progression of learning scope. The ideal candidate will inspire a love for the French language and culture, create an engaging learning environment, and support students in achieving linguistic and cultural fluency. Collaboration with colleagues and active participation in school activities are essential components of this role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Instructional Planning and Delivery

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with the French language curriculum and learning objectives.
  • Use engaging teaching methods to promote fluency in French, integrating interactive and multimedia resources.
  • Introduce students to Francophone culture, history, and traditions to enhance language learning.

2. Classroom Management

  • Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Set clear academic and behavioral expectations to foster a focused and respectful learning atmosphere.
  • Encourage active student participation through collaborative activities, role-playing, and discussions.

3. Assessment and Evaluation

  • Design and administer assessments to evaluate students' language proficiency and progress.
  • Provide constructive feedback on assignments and projects to encourage growth and improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and report progress effectively.

4. Student Support and Engagement

  • Support students with diverse learning needs through differentiated instruction and personalized feedback.
  • Encourage students to practice speaking French in and out of the classroom.
  • Promote a love for learning French by organizing cultural activities, such as French film screenings, cuisine tasting, or celebrations of Francophone events.

5. Professional Collaboration and Development

  • Collaborate with colleagues to align the French language curriculum and share effective teaching practices.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional methods and subject knowledge.
  • Maintain open communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress and language activities.

6. Contribution to School Community

  • Participate in school-wide events, faculty meetings, and extracurricular activities.
  • Organize or contribute to French language clubs, competitions, or exchange programs.
  • Uphold the school’s mission, vision, and values through professional conduct and teaching excellence.
