Role Overview
As the Country Manager for Ultra Maritime Service in Cyprus, you will play a critical leadership role in overseeing all commercial, operational, and strategic aspects of the business in the region. This role requires a hands-on leader with a deep understanding of the freight forwarding and shipping industries, who can drive growth, manage high-performing teams, and ensure operational excellence in line with the Group’s global strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Business Leadership & Strategy:
Develop and implement the country strategy to expand market share and strengthen Ultra Maritime Service’s presence in Cyprus.
Lead the commercial strategy to drive revenue growth across all business lines, including shipping and logistics services.
Set and achieve financial and operational targets in alignment with regional business objectives.
Identify new business opportunities and partnerships to support sustainable growth.
Operations & Service Delivery:
Oversee daily operations, ensuring efficient and high-quality service delivery across all departments.
Ensure compliance with local and international shipping regulations, legal requirements, and industry best practices.
Implement and monitor Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guarantee customer satisfaction and service consistency.
Team Leadership & Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop cross-functional teams, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture.
Set clear objectives and KPIs for team members, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement.
Support professional development initiatives and succession planning to retain and grow talent within the organization.
Client Relationship Management:
Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders in Cyprus and the wider region.
Serve as the primary point of contact for VIP clients and ensure the delivery of tailored logistics and shipping solutions.
Represent Ultra Maritime Service at industry events, networking opportunities, and business forums.
Financial & Risk Management:
Oversee the country P&L, ensuring financial goals are met and budgets are managed effectively.
Monitor and mitigate potential risks, including market, operational, and compliance risks.
Provide regular financial and business performance reports to senior management.
Qualifications & Experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
A Master’s degree or professional certifications in logistics or maritime management is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum 15 years of progressive experience in the shipping, freight forwarding, or logistics industry, with at least 8 years in a leadership/management role.
Proven track record in managing P&L responsibilities, driving revenue growth, and leading large teams.
Strong experience in the Cyprus logistics and shipping market is highly preferred.
Technical & Industry Knowledge:
In-depth knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs procedures, and freight forwarding operations.
Familiarity with Incoterms, maritime documentation, and supply chain best practices.
Skills & Competencies
Strong leadership and team management abilities.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
Analytical and strategic thinking with a results-driven mindset.
Client-centric approach with strong relationship-building skills.
Proficient in CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and MS Office Suite.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.
Languages:
Fluency in English (written and spoken) is required.
Knowledge of additional languages relevant to maritime trade routes is a plus.
Greek Language is a must.
