Position Overview
The Hydrant Technician specializes in operating and maintaining the underground hydrant pipeline network that distributes fuel across the airport apron. They inspect hydrant pits, monitor pressure conditions, check for leaks, and ensure the integrity of the hydrant system supplying aircraft stands in accordance with GACA safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Operating and maintaining underground hydrant pipeline network
Inspecting hydrant pits and dispensing units according to GACA standards
Monitoring pressure conditions throughout the system
Checking for leaks and system integrity issues
Ensuring proper operation of hydrant valves and couplers
Performing routine maintenance on hydrant dispensers
Responding to hydrant system faults and emergencies
Conducting pressure tests and system validations per GACA requirements
Maintaining accurate records of inspections and maintenance for regulatory compliance
Coordinating with airport operations for system access
Ensuring all work complies with GACA safety procedures
Qualifications & Requirements
Technical diploma or certification in Mechanical or Industrial trades
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in pipeline or fuel systems
Knowledge of hydrant fueling systems and airport operations
Understanding of pressure management and leak detection
Familiarity with GACA safety regulations and procedures
Ability to work in confined spaces and outdoor environments
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
Understanding of safety procedures and PPE requirements
Valid driver's license and airside access clearance
