Location: Medica Care Center, Kuwait
Position: Speech Therapist Specialist
Reports To: Medical Director

Role Overview

The Speech Therapist Specialist will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. The role requires a compassionate professional who can design effective therapy plans, collaborate with healthcare teams, and support patients in improving their communication and swallowing abilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assessment & Diagnosis
    • Evaluate patients with communication, speech, voice, and swallowing difficulties.
    • Conduct diagnostic tests and assessments to identify disorders.
    • Develop accurate diagnoses and document findings in medical records.
  • Treatment & Therapy
    • Create and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to patient needs.
    • Provide therapy for speech articulation, language comprehension, fluency, and vocal quality.
    • Treat patients with swallowing disorders (dysphagia) using evidence-based techniques.
    • Utilize modern therapy tools, technology, and intervention strategies.
  • Patient & Family Support
    • Educate patients and families on therapy practices for home use.
    • Provide counseling regarding progress, outcomes, and expectations.
    • Encourage active participation and motivation in therapy sessions.
  • Collaboration & Reporting
    • Work closely with physicians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and psychologists.
    • Maintain detailed patient progress notes and reports in compliance with medical standards.
    • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
  • Professional Standards
    • Ensure compliance with Kuwait Ministry of Health (MOH) regulations and Medica Care Center policies.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality, patient safety, and ethical practices.
    • Stay updated on advancements in speech therapy techniques and research.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology / Speech Therapy from a recognized institution.
  • Valid Kuwait Ministry of Health (MOH) License as a Speech Therapist (mandatory).
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience, preferably in a hospital or rehabilitation center.
  • Expertise in both pediatric and adult speech/language disorders is an advantage.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and empathy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Proficiency in English (Arabic is an added advantage).
