Position: Speech Therapist Specialist
Reports To: Medical Director
Role Overview
The Speech Therapist Specialist will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients with speech, language, voice, and swallowing disorders. The role requires a compassionate professional who can design effective therapy plans, collaborate with healthcare teams, and support patients in improving their communication and swallowing abilities.
Key Responsibilities
Assessment & Diagnosis
Evaluate patients with communication, speech, voice, and swallowing difficulties.
Conduct diagnostic tests and assessments to identify disorders.
Develop accurate diagnoses and document findings in medical records.
Treatment & Therapy
Create and implement individualized therapy plans tailored to patient needs.
Provide therapy for speech articulation, language comprehension, fluency, and vocal quality.
Treat patients with swallowing disorders (dysphagia) using evidence-based techniques.
Utilize modern therapy tools, technology, and intervention strategies.
Patient & Family Support
Educate patients and families on therapy practices for home use.
Provide counseling regarding progress, outcomes, and expectations.
Encourage active participation and motivation in therapy sessions.
Collaboration & Reporting
Work closely with physicians, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and psychologists.
Maintain detailed patient progress notes and reports in compliance with medical standards.
Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and case discussions.
Professional Standards
Ensure compliance with Kuwait Ministry of Health (MOH) regulations and Medica Care Center policies.
Maintain strict confidentiality, patient safety, and ethical practices.
Stay updated on advancements in speech therapy techniques and research.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology / Speech Therapy from a recognized institution.
Valid Kuwait Ministry of Health (MOH) License as a Speech Therapist (mandatory).
Minimum 3 years of professional experience, preferably in a hospital or rehabilitation center.
Expertise in both pediatric and adult speech/language disorders is an advantage.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and empathy skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
Proficiency in English (Arabic is an added advantage).
