Department/Brand Profile

A Storekeeper is responsible for store-specific, routine, daily store activities, including processing postings, supplies receipt, and distribution, carrying out inventories and inventory control activities, and may manage purchase and change orders. This role often serves as a bridge between the higher-level management of a brand and the on-the-ground staff in retail locations working closely with marketing teams on in-store campaigns, and coordinating with visual merchandisers for optimal store layouts and displays. They regularly update branding materials and conduct staff training on brand values and product knowledge. They handle day-to-day refurbishing of goods, regulate stock levels across different locations, and streamline transportation by consolidating shipments whenever feasible. This includes recruiting new members, delegating tasks and responsibilities, training new employees, assigning shifts, and monitoring performance.


Job Summary 

  • Contribute to achieving the Stars Group's overall strategic goals and objectives and profitability requirements and formulating and setting departmental and management goals and objectives, monitor work, and evaluate results to ensure that departmental and Stars Group objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with overall strategic goals.
  • Take delivery of all incoming materials and reconcile them with purchase orders.
  • Track, document, and resolve any discrepancies in received orders.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the facility’s inventory system by updating records of physical inventory totals, receipts, adjustments, and returns.
  • Manage inventory/supplies and ensure they are within the established minimum and maximum levels.
  • Keep up-to-date records of receipts, records, and withdrawals from the stockroom.
  • Manage supplier relations and database as well as maintain high ethical relationships both internally and externally.
  • Create purchase orders and utilize purchasing cards to perform low-value procurement activities.
  • Responsible for shipping canceled or damaged items back to suppliers as appropriate.
  • Encourage the adoption of new technologies and best practices to enhance productivity.
  • Check all merchandise for discrepancies and damages.
  • Sort merchandise according to pricing and location at the store.
  • Store merchandise in proper location to increase sales.
  • Performing physical inventory counts to ensure that all goods are accounted for at the end of each accounting period.
  • Preparing reports on inventory levels and other data to help managers make business decisions about purchasing new goods or changing prices.
  • Customer service skills can help you interact with customers and answer their questions.
  • Stocking shelves with merchandise, including putting price tags on items and arranging displays.
  • Attend all training sessions administered or assigned by the company.

 

 

Essential Functions

  • Ensures inventory management and control systems (manual and electronic) are effectively utilized to facilitate supply chain operations. 
  • Ensures stock level accuracy through competent management and implementation of policies, procedures, and controls. 
  • Responsible for accepting payments from customers and balancing the cash drawer.
  • Responsible for packing, pricing, labeling, and returning supplies.
  • Responsible for stock rotation and coordinating the disposal of surpluses.
  • Oversee the handling of freight, the movement of equipment, and minor repairs.
  • Ensure retail store maintenance and adherence to company standards.
  • Ensures that the store is in a tidy and orderly condition.
  • Ensures the safety and security of the store.
  • Ensures the store team consistently executes and maintains visual presentation and store standards per Company protocol and operational policy.
  • Direct and control the staff of the personnel department to ensure that they undertake their responsibilities effectively and within budget.
  • Drive change and a will-do attitude in the business and create a focus and energy for people to achieve outstanding results.
  • Operate with the highest level of conduct, integrity, and confidentiality; setting the example for leaders and associates.
  • Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures.
  • Set objectives for reporting subordinates in line with corporate objectives and strategies and continuously follow up on the progress of achieving such objectives by reviewing related KPIs and achievements.
  • Develop and nurture strong cross-functional partnerships; driving business results and inspiring a culture of transparency, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Proactively develop self and team by utilizing structured company training and development tools and further provide opportunities to enhance performance.
  • Creates a positive store image through adherence to company policies and standards.
  • Communicates with HR to keep them updated with any additional regular tasks or duties undertaken by the employee to update their job description increase their scope of responsibilities and increase their output, efficiency, and productivity.
  • Assists branch manager/supervisor in all activities relating to store layout, product visibility, stock levels, visual display of products, and company standards & procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications, Experience And Skills – Selection Criteria

 

ESSENTIAL

PREFERRED

Education

  • High School diploma.

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field.

Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of retail business.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role.
  • 2+ experience in Marketing, retail, the retail industry, or related field.

Excellent knowledge of retail management software (e.g. MS RMS).

Certification and Licensure
