Role Purpose:
The role purpose of a Junior Quality Assurance professional in a retail software company is to ensure zero major bugs leaked to production. This involves developing and implementing comprehensive testing strategies and processes throughout the software development lifecycle (SDLC), focusing on identifying defects, verifying functionality, and ensuring overall performance and security of retail applications, such as point-of-sale (POS) systems, inventory management, and e-commerce platforms. The QA professional plays a critical role in safeguarding the user experience by ensuring that all features function correctly and efficiently, minimizing downtime and operational disruptions.
 
Key Accountabilities:
1. Testing & Quality Assurance
Responsible to ensure zero major bugs leaked to production.
Execute manual test cases for web and mobile applications.
Document test results clearly and comprehensively.
Report, track, and follow up on defects in the defect tracking tool (e.g., Jira).
Perform regression testing for new releases and bug fixes.
Support basic API testing and integration validation.
Assist in smoke testing before production deployments.
Support UAT coordination when required.
Help monitor production issues and validate hotfixes.
2. Test Documentation
Create and update test cases, test plans, and checklists.
Maintain accurate test data and test artifacts.
Assist in test estimation and traceability.
3. Collaboration & Teamwork
Work closely with developers, product owners, and QA team members.
Participate in daily standups and QA planning sessions.
Support continuous improvement of QA processes.

Job Communication:
§  Regular Communication with all related teams like Development team, BA Team and Ui/UX Team.
Decision Making:
§  Decide whether a test case passes or fails based on acceptance criteria.
§  Recommend re-testing when validation is incomplete.

Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge:
 
§  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
§  0–2 years of experience in software testing or QA (fresh graduates welcome).
§  Basic understanding of software testing fundamentals.
§  Fluent English
§  Good communication skills
