Job Summary The Senior Project Engineer (Refrigeration Projects) is responsible for leading the engineering, design, installation, and commissioning of industrial refrigeration systems, focusing on large-scale projects such as cold storage, food processing, pharmaceuticals, and logistics facilities. The role requires in-depth expertise in ammonia (NH3) and Freon-based refrigeration systems, ensuring high efficiency, safety, and compliance with industry standards.

3. Job Detailed Responsibilities Executive / Technical (directly related to the work environment): 1. Refrigeration System Installation & Execution (Ammonia & Freon-Based Systems)
• Supervise the installation and commissioning of industrial refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
• Manage on-site execution of refrigeration systems, coordinating with contractors, suppliers, and technicians.
• Oversee piping installation, including suction, discharge, liquid, and hot gas defrost lines.
• Ensure proper implementation of defrosting methods such as hot gas defrost, electric defrost, and water defrost.
• Conduct system pressure testing, leak detection, and performance verification.
• Enforce adherence to local refrigeration safety codes and industry regulations.
2. Cold Storage & Freezer Facilities Execution
• Manage the construction and installation of cold storage, blast freezing, and ultra-low temperature rooms.
• Supervise the setup of air distribution systems for freezer rooms, meat storage, and pharmaceutical cold storage.
• Coordinate with insulated panel suppliers to ensure proper wall and ceiling insulation.
• Oversee the installation of cold storage doors, air curtains, and pressure relief vents to maintain efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with food and pharmaceutical industry storage standards.
3. Electrical Power Distribution & Automation in Refrigeration Plants
• Oversee the installation of electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, MCC panels, and refrigeration control panels.
• Supervise the setup of PLC-based automation, SCADA systems, and sensor integration for real-time monitoring.
• Implement energy efficiency measures, such as VFDs for compressors and evaporators, and heat recovery systems.
• Ensure compliance with IEC, NFPA 70E, and local electrical safety regulations.
4. Safety & Risk Management for Refrigeration Facilities
• Conduct risk assessments and oversee the implementation of ammonia gas leak detection systems.
• Develop and execute emergency response plans for refrigeration leaks and system failures.
5. Piping, Drainage & Water Systems Execution
• Supervise the installation of glycol piping and brine cooling loops for indirect refrigeration systems.
• Ensure proper drainage system implementation to prevent ice buildup and optimize wastewater management.
• Manage flow rate testing and pump installation for chilled water and condenser cooling systems.
• Ensure compliance with industrial refrigeration water treatment guidelines.
6. MEP Coordination & Project Execution
• Review and approve project execution plans, shop drawings, and material submittals.
• Oversee BIM coordination and clash detection using Revit MEP and Navisworks.
• Manage subcontractors and vendors to ensure timely project delivery.
• Conduct site inspections and implement quality control for refrigeration plant installation.
• Optimize procurement and material selection for cost-effective and efficient execution.
7. Testing, Commissioning & Handover of Refrigeration Systems
• Oversee full-system testing and commissioning, including pull-down time analysis, energy efficiency verification, leak testing, refrigerant charge balancing, and automation validation.
• Train refrigeration plant operators and maintenance personnel on system operation and safety protocols.
• Prepare as-built documentation, O&M manuals, and compliance reports for project handover.
