Front-End Team Lead

Role Summary 

We are seeking a Front-End Team Lead to own the web experience end-to-end, including UI architecture, delivery execution, performance, quality standards, and team leadership. 

This role combines technical depth with people leadership. You will guide a small team of engineers while remaining hands-on in critical areas of the codebase, shaping scalable front-end architecture and ensuring reliable, high-performance delivery for a data-intensive product. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Lead the front-end team across planning, sprint execution, mentorship, and day-to-day delivery 
  • Define, implement, and evolve scalable UI architecture for a data-heavy product using React and TypeScript 
  • Own performance and reliability of the web application, including rendering optimization and interaction at scale 
  • Partner with Product, Design, and Back-end/AI teams to translate requirements into structured technical plans and predictable delivery timelines 
  • Establish and enforce engineering standards, including code reviews, testing strategies, CI checks, documentation, and release processes 
  • Drive strong user experience for geospatial workflows (maps, layers, annotations, and large datasets) 

Requirements

  • Strong production-level experience with React and modern front-end tooling, with TypeScript proficiency preferred 
  • Proven experience leading engineers in a Team Lead, Tech Lead, or similar capacity within a fast-paced environment 
  • Demonstrated expertise in designing scalable front-end architecture, including component patterns, state management strategies, routing systems, and API abstraction layers 
  • Strong debugging capabilities and a proven track record of improving performance, including rendering efficiency, bundle optimization, and latency reduction 
  • Ability to translate product goals into actionable technical roadmaps, break down work effectively, and deliver consistently on schedule 

Core Technical Expertise & Scope

  • Build and maintain reusable component libraries and scalable UI patterns 
  • Develop high-performance, data-heavy screens for mission planning, processing workflows, and operational dashboards 
  • Integrate front-end systems with back-end APIs for job orchestration, dataset management, authentication, and reporting 
  • Implement analytics and observability within the UI to proactively detect performance issues and regressions 
  • Contribute to hiring, onboarding, and fostering a high-accountability engineering culture
