Optimization Engineer

Role Purpose
The Optimization Engineer is responsible for analyzing and improving network performance across multiple technologies (GSM, 3G, 4G, 5G, WiMAX, WiFi, IBS, and Small Cells, mMIMO) using field measurements and EMS statistics to enhance KPIs for all vendors & operators.


Detailed Duties and Responsibilities

  • Handle, supervise and report all the technical related issues (Tickets, KPI test…etc.)
  • Interfacing with the customer, attending meetings for technical optimization and network performance & KPI’s validation, and reporting discussions. 
  • Seeks and participates in development and improvement of the team skills through training
  • Suggest areas for improvement in  internal processes along with possible solutions
  • Analyze results of performance audit campaigns to further optimize the RAN performance to exceed minimum acceptable KPIs value and aim to achieve target KPIs values
  • Perform interference analysis for locations suffering from low performance
  • Perform coverage analysis for locations suffering from low performance
  • Analyze and troubleshoot cases of low throughput, high latency, high call fail, high call drop, Data drop rate ,HO failure and define neighboring sites 
  • Adjust sites parameters (mainly antennas’ azimuth and tilt degrees) in response to the optimization recommendation and instructions approved by client.
  • Perform ad hoc analysis when reported complaints are suspected to be related to field RF issues
  • Perform single-RAS and cluster optimization for newly added sites.
  • Produce optimization reports and studies.
  • Perform site field Drive Test/Walk Test based on project and field requirements and support field team with troubleshooting tools, test scenarios, test log & parameters verification and process-needed analysis with technical recommendations for KPI’s improvement.
  • Perform all kind of post processing analysis and reporting per end customer requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with RF optimization and post-processing tools (TEMS, Nemo, Actix, etc.)
  • Handle and perform but not limited to below :
    1. Drive test log analysis.
    2. Site planning 
    3. Radio Parameters optimization.
    4. Neighbour optimization.
    5. KPI monitoring 
    6. Complaint analysis.
    7. Configuration analysis and consistency check.
    8. Script generation.
    9. Nastar report generation.
    10. Performance Analysis (Air Interface Protocol analysis, Voice, CS, PS analysis …).
    11. Network level planning.
    12. Capacity planning and analysis.
    13. RAN Feature / algorithm knowledge.
    14. Radio Parameters optimization.
    15. KPI troubleshooting.
